Random contemplations of a geek
What do you do when you don't have anything new to tell the world? How do you tell people time when everyone has a watch of their own? You collect information from other places and show it to them in a different manner. You take their watch and tell them the time in 5 different formats :-)
Thats Web 2.0 from you. Almost everything you want to know is on the internet now. From making nuclear warheads to DIY delivering babies. Don't want to take the pain of making your own content and uploading it? Let that responsibility rest on the users who visit your site. Let them decide the content and let them decide what they want to read and what they want to vote out. Thats exactly what sites like Digg, Wikipedia, Wikimapia etc are doing. They allow the users to create the content of their sites. And all this for free. Thats the business model of Web 2.0 and believe it or not, site owners are making millions from this (YouTube is worth a couple of billion dollars!!!)
How does it affect us? Users upload the content and "Tag" it appropriately, which makes searching of content easy. This makes the web "Intelligent".
Buzz words like XML, RSS, Atoms etc have come into existence. RSS is a really interesting thing.... although i did take time to understand it. (Read this to know the pain i went through while understanding it). It makes the Web more lively and spontaneous.
Well the point of the whole thing is that there is no point in writing this post. Someone must have already written something like this and you could have done a "Digg" on it. Remember, these are random contemplations....
